Excellent hang drum demonstration

I must have seen over 100 different Hang Drum videos on youtube and most of them fairly uninspiring. However I just came across a brilliant display by Manu Delago – who is a great upcoming percussionist and known within the Hang Drum society.

I must confess I’d never even seen a hang drum before.

    And……

    …….That is truly amazing.

What a mesmerizing and enchanting sound. I love the melody he’s getting out of that. He makes it seem so versatile as well.

    Wow.

It is truly amazing. I was fortunate enough to find one two years ago, which was quite a journey by itself. There is only one maker in the world and they only produced a few thousand of these things, so they are hard to come by. But yes … it is mesmerizing … almost soulful should I say … a soulful percussive instrument.

Sweet! Haven’t seen that instrument played before…quite moving, melodic, good time…

Btw. just came upon your blog after hearing your track on the East West Colosus player on their site and was quite surprised about the last half of that song – the rock part, sounded great!….where can I get your music?

I often see a man who plays this instrument on the street… i think there a 2 different mans. The sounds like the typical hawaiian percussion… But Manu Delago plays his instrument by his own way. Very emotional. He use nice harmonies and his advantage iss, that he can use 2 of the hang drums. The man on the street use only one and this iss not very interesting. His bass tone iss just the center of the hang drum (on his thigh). He just addet 2 Notes more for build a three chord.

    Very nice…

If i see the man with his hang drum on the street again, i ask him for sample session ^^ Until now i dont know what is possible with this instrument !
